There’s a Cat on the Other Side of the Galaxy
Since childhood, I have been afraid of ghosts, aliens, monsters, and all kinds of unknown creatures. I have never watched a horror film. Yet at the same time, I have often wished that a monster might suddenly appear—simply to frighten me, or even swallow me whole—just to prove that the world is not as certain and boring as it seems.
There Is a Cat Beyond the Galaxy revisits these uncontrollable moments of imagination. The fear and anticipation within them both come from a childish yet fascinating way of imagining the unknown. As I grew older, photography became a transformation of this imagination, taking over the role it once played.
Images of the world, like the world itself, can sometimes seem overly certain and at other times impossible to explain. This contradiction is never resolved; instead, it continues to expand as images accumulate. Photographs are taken, brought together, and begin to form connections with one another—much like the universe itself, constantly expanding.
